The Tulane University Drumline is an exciting performance section within The Tulane University Marching Band.  The mission of the drumline is to provide a solid foundation of percussion education for all levels and to be a reliable staple of pulse and energy for the whole organization and for our audience.

The TUMB drumline combines modern drumline practices and a desire for excellence found in drum corps and competitive drumlines with performance showmanship traditions associated with New Orleans.  They are a great crowd pleaser during Mardi Gras season helping the band and spectators groove and dance on the streets with a wide variety of cadences and beats.

The drumline is headed by Andrew Szypula, the TUMB's Operations Manager and Percussion Instructor. Andrew has performed with the likes of DCI World Champion Carolina Crown, regional symphony orchestras including the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Reading Symphony, and the Pennsylvania Philharmonic, and Gallant Entertainment, Inc., a professional entertainment company in NYC with such featured clients as the New York Giants, Jets, Rangers, Knicks, New England Patriots, The 2015 NBA All Star Game, ESPN, Under Armour, and The NFL for Super Bowl XLVIII. These experiences comblined with his years of arranging for and teaching numerous high school, collegiate, and drum corps drumlines and marching band ensembles nationwide brings an end product that crowds enjoy whilst simultaneously creating a positive and educational experience for the students.

The TUMB Drumline proudly plays Yamaha Percussion Instruments, Vic Firth drumsticks, and Evans drumheads.  Check out some of our drumline videos below, and be sure to visit our YouTube Channel for new videos throughout the year!
