KAPPA KAPPA PSI
Kappa Kappa Psi Kicks off another Event-Filled Semester
Rho, Tulane’s chapter of the national honorary fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi, has gotten into full swing since returning to school in August and has plans for many exciting activities throughout the semester.
During TUMB band camp in August, the chapter represented the fraternity and made a strong presence within the marching band in a variety of ways.
Four brothers came to band camp five days early to help Barry and Mark prepare for the following week by painting lines of the fields, assisting with uniforms, and helping create the set for the first show of the season.
Rho also hosted an activity during band camp - a talent show!! In this talent show, each section performed a routine in Dixon Auditorium for the entire band. There were many great talents and hilarious performances, but the clarinet section placed 3rd, saxophones 2nd, and the sousaphones earned 1st. This activity was a great way for sections to bond and really get to know each other.
Kappa Kappa Psi had two fundraisers during band camp—selling TUMB shorts, sunglasses, old show tee shirts, and custom Kappa Kappa Psi and TUMB sweatshirts. If you are interested in purchasing any of these items, please contact Treasurer Katelynn Howells (email@example.com). In addition, Rho continued the tradition of designing and giving out tee shirts with the show's theme on them to band members. This year, trumpet section member and Kappa Kappa Psi Brother Elizabeth Hanlon designed the awesome shirt below!
The chapter has plans for some exciting service events this semester. On Friday, September 28, it will be going to Newcomb Daycare to give a short lesson about our instruments and then play some tunes for the children. This is a service event that Rho started this past spring, and the children absolutely loved it!
Rho will also be hosting the “Fourth Inaugural TUMBOO” this fall. TUMBOO is always an evening of fun games and activities and awesome costumes! This year, the food will be catered by Canes and the band Doombalaya will perform throughout the event.
The chapter is starting a new tradition this semester called the RHO-PSI-TAL. This will be an event consisting of musical performances of all genres put on by members of the fraternity. The first RHO-PSI-TAL will be Monday, November 26 at 5:30pm in the Dixon Recital Hall.
The chapter looks forward to serving the TUMB and other music ensembles on campus throughout the semester!
