When is band camp?

Band Camp Dates for 2016:

Drum Majors and Percussion report Monday, August 15

Dance Team reports Tuesday, August 16

Color Guard and Section leaders report Wednesday, August 17

Full Band reports Friday, August 19

Band Camp ends with the University Convocation on Saturday, August 27

Where will I live during band camp?

TUMB members are given early access to their assigned dormitory rooms.

What is the TUMB's regular rehearsal schedule?

During the fall semester, the TUMB rehearses every Monday & Wednesday night from 5:30-7:30pm, and on Fridays from 4:30-6:30pm.  In the spring we rehearse on Mondays & Wednesdays only from 5:30-7:30pm.

Does the TUMB travel to away games?

The TUMB travels to one road football game each fall, traditionally against a conference opponent in the south/gulf coast region.

Will I receive academic credit for being in the TUMB?

Yes, the TUMB is a one-credit course through the Department of Music which applies towards the fine arts graduation requirement.

Does the TUMB offer scholarships?

Yes.  With an audition, the TUMB offers $1000 merit scholarships to all eligible members of the TUMB.  Additional scholarship money may be available based on quality of audition and instrumentation needs for the TUMB.

Do members of the Shockwave Dance Team qualify for TUMB scholarships?

Yes.  As TUMB members enrolled in the band course, Shockwave members are eligible for TUMB scholarships.

Do you have to be a music major to join the TUMB?  Is there an audition?

The TUMB is comprised of many academic areas university-wide.  Any student is welcome to join the TUMB.  All new members should audition to determine scholarships and instrumental part assignments.

Can non-Tulane students be in the TUMB?

Yes, contingent upon being able to fulfill all course requirements.  Please contact Barry Spanier for further information.
